DHAKA, Oct 26, 2017 (BSS) – Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover, a major structure and country’s longest elevated road, was opened for traffic today with a hope that it would ease the nagging traffic congestion in the capital.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 8.7 kilometer flyover,
stretching across Kakrail-Malibagh, Rajarbagh-Mouchak, Rampura-Mouchak and Mouchak-Eskaton areas of the city, through a video conference from her residence Ganabhaban this afternoon.

According to the officials, the flyover constructed at a cost of Taka 1,218 crore, including Taka 776 crore financial assistance of Saudi government, would facilitate ease vehicular movement over eight intersections and three level-crossings.

Inaugurating the flyover, the Prime Minister said the flyover is a
conspicuous example of the results of the continuation of Awami League
government in 2014.

Bangladesh will go much ahead of prosperity if Awami League government comes to power in 2019, she said.

Sheikh Hasina said her government has so far constructed six flyovers in the city which made the journey of the commuters trouble-free and
comfortable. The new flyover would also save time and further make the city’s communication system smooth for city dwellers.

Sheikh Hasina sought cooperation of country’s people to continue various development projects undertaken by her government. She said the Awami League government after coming power in 1996 has embarked upon a massive socio-economic development. But, the pace of development and different projects suffered a blow after BNP-led alliance government came to power in 2001.

The prime minister said after assuming power in 2009 her government has taken constant strides to give people of the country prosperous economic life as well as make their life style easy.

She also urged people to obey traffic rules and be careful while using the government properties and infrastructures.
