Govt. committed to building prosperous Bangladesh: Shahriar

RAJSHAHI, July 24, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs
Shahriar Alam, MP, said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina is committed to building a prosperous Bangladesh by freeing the
country from poverty and hunger as he distributed money and books among
destitute.

“Currently the country is progressing fast in all sectors like foreign
policy, ICT, food production, power generation and distribution, education,
women empowerment, foreign remittance earning, GDP and per capita income”, he
said.

The state minister was addressing a function arranged for distributing
money and books among distressed people with disabilities, widow and divorced
women under the 2017-18 fiscal in the district yesterday afternoon as the
chief guest.

Department of Social Services (DSS) organized the programme at Bagha
Upazila Parishad Auditorium with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Reza in the
chair.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional District Magistrate
Subrata Kumar Paul, DSS Deputy Director Rashedul Kabir, Upazila Officer Abdul
Hannan and Arani Pourasava Mayor Muktar Hossan.

Mentioning that Awami League only represents the people of Bangladesh,
Alam said the party has brought the nation’s independence through a long
struggle led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and it
will also bring economic emancipation of the people as well.

He said Bangladesh witnesses real development when Awami League comes to
power. Over the last nine years, Awami League led present government has
pulled five crore people out of extreme poverty, making the country a role
model of development abroad.

Bangladesh would be economically self-reliant if Awami League remains in
power, he also added.

Alam called upon the people to vote for Awami League in next national
election to continue the pace of country’s development.

‘Bangladesh will be turned into a safe haven for corrupt people,
terrorists and militants if BNP and its cohorts come to power again,’ he
continued.
