DHAKA, July 23, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed
Nasim here today said Bangladesh is on the right path to become a developed
country by 2041 with the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Bangladesh will join the middle-income group by 2021 if our economy
continues its 7 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth trend,” he said
while inaugurating the secretariat building complex of Partners in Population
and Development (PPD), an intergovernmental initiative created specifically
for the purpose of expanding and improving South-to-South collaboration in
the fields of reproductive health, population, and development, at Agargaon
here, said a press release.
“Bangladesh is continuing its developing process maintaining
relationships with other countries. Government led by the Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina is giving emphasis on strengthening bilateral, regional and
international relationships,” said the minister.
“Bangladesh has become a role model to the world leaders in the
development of health sector besides the overall socio-economic progress in
last nine years,” minister Nasim added.
PPD consists of 26 developing countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America
and the Middle East, added the press release.
PPD acting executive director Dr Hu Hongtao, China’s National Health
Commission deputy minister Wang Pei’en, Benin’s deputy minister for health
Lucien Toko, Tunisia’s National Board for Family and Population director Dr
Rafla Tej Dellagi, India’s Family Planning Commission deputy commissioner Dr
S K Sikder, among others, were present on the occasion.
