Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

DHAKA, July 23, 2018 (BSS) – Stock markets witnessed flat on Monday when
daily transactions declined on lower demand.

The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 873.12 crore from Sunday’s
Taka 1054.93 crore and the daily trade fell to 19.42 crore shares from 22.39
crore shares of the previous session.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
8.88 points up at 5,348.07. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend
with 4.53 points up at 1,913.06. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with
5.88 points down at 1,268.69.

At the DSE, prices of 130 securities out of the day’s 339 closed higher
against 168 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Padma Life, Asia Pacific Insurance,
RANFOUNDRY, Aziz Pipes and BD Auto Cars. The major losing issues were Jute
Spinning, Meghna Pet, Dulamia Cotton, Beach Hatchery and Meghna Condense
Milk.

BBS Cables topped the turnover list followed by Peninsula, KDSALTD, BPML
and NAHEEACAPITAL.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with
upward trend with its major CASPI 41.53 points up at 16,493.58.

At the CSE, a total of 260 issues were traded while 100 closed higher
and 140 closed lower as 1.08 crore shares worth Taka 34.20 crore changed
hands.
