Call to plant 30 lakh trees in honour of martyrs

RANGPUR, July 22, 2018 (BSS) – Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah today urged young generation to plant tree saplings to pay honour to the 30 lakh martyrs of the War of Liberation.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is making her all-out efforts to make remembrance of the self-sacrifice of the martyred freedom fighters everlasting and create an environment-friendly Bangladesh,” the VC said while launching tree plantation campaign on the campus as the chief guest.

He launched the campaign in response to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s call and as part of three million saplings plantation programme to pay tributes to three million martyrs of the War of Liberation.

Dr Kalimullah called upon teachers, students, officials and employees of the university to ensure their active involvement with efforts of the Prime Minister in planting tree saplings at different places on the campus.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Parimal Chandra Barman and Dean of the Faculty of Science and President of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association Professor Dr Gazi Mazharul Anwar also spoke.

Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing of BRUR Professor Md Ferdous Rahman, Head of the Department of Chemistry HM Tariqul Islam, Head of the Department of Statistics Dr Md Rashidul Islam, teachers and officials were present.
