CHATTOGRAM, May 17, 2021 (BSS) – The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 38,095 in the district with the healing of 128 more people in the last 24 hours.
A total of 38,095 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 73.51 in the district, said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.
The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district while their two consecutives real- time PCR tests were found negative, he said.
The total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 51,827 amid the frequent rising trend in the daily infection rate in recent days only in the district, Dr Rabbi added.
Among the total infected people, 41,460 are the residents of the port city and the rest 10,367 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.
Meanwhile, a total of 37 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 392 samples at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district. The infection rate is 11.75 percent.
Among the newly detected patients, 27 are from Chattogram city and 10 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said, adding that 5,390 infected patients were also undergoing treatment in designated hospitals in the port city.
The death toll from the virus rose to 582 while a fatality reported afresh in the last 24 hours, the health official said.

the rest 153 were from different upazilas of the district
He mentioned that the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to follow health rules so that the virus cannot spread further.
