Vietnamese coach plunges off pass, killing 4, injuring 11

HANOI, July 22, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – An inter-provincial coach plunged off a pass in Vietnam’s northern Cao Bang province on early Sunday, killing four people and injuring 11 others, the provincial Traffic Safety Committee said.

The coach, running between Cao Bang and northern Thai Binh province, plunged off Cao Bac Pass in Nguyen Binh District 30 meters below.

The accident seriously injured three people and slightly hurt eight others.

In June, an inter-provincial coach carrying 42 people plunged off a pass in central highlands Kon Tum province, claiming thee lives and injuring 18, the provincial police said.

Between January and June, 8,999 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam, killing 4,103 people, severely injuring 2,465 and lightly hurting 4,562 others, said the country’s Traffic Police Department.

The numbers of traffic accidents, deaths and slight injuries caused by the accidents decline, respectively, by 6.2 percent, 0.7 percent, and 17.8 percent against the same period last year. However, the number of severe
injuries rose by 3.3 percent.
