Leaders urge people to vote for AL to continue development

DHAKA, July 21, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League leaders today urged the countrymen to vote for their party again to continue the on-going development programmes.

There is no alternative to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the development of the nation. Bangladesh is now a role model of development in every sector in the world, they said at the mass reception to Sheikh Hasina at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan here in the afternoon.

The reception was accorded for attaining the eligibility to graduate to a developing nation, launching Bangabandhu Satellite-1, Sheikh Hasina’s achievement of Global Women’s Leadership Award from US-based NGO Global Summit of Women, and her receiving DLitt from Kazi Nazrul University of India.

AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader read out a citation in the reception with AL Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury in the chair.

Cabinet members, AL senior leaders and dignitaries were present in the reception.

Sajeda said the country is progressing fast. Bangladesh is now a developing nation.

“I hope the country people will vote to Awami League again to continue the development,” she added.

The programme started through recitations from the holy Quran, the Geeta, the Tripitaka and the Bible.

A 30-minute presentation was made in the function on the history and heritage of the Bangalee nation. Besides, a cultural function was also held on the occasion.

Earlier, activists carrying colorful banners, festoons and beating drums were seen walking through the main streets of the city on their way to the venue.

The venue, Suhrawardy Udyan, has been decorated with colorful festoons. A huge L-shaped podium has been set at the venue. The entire Suhrawardy Udyan was illuminated. A big gate was erected at the entry point to the venue in front of Matsya Bhaban while 40 other colorful gates were erected from the city’s Matsya Bhaban to Shishu Park area.

City streets from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official residence Ganabhaban to the reception venue Suhrawardy Udyan were decorated with banners and festoons.

Centering the programme, Dhaka Metropolitan Police issued restricted vehicular movement around Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Peoples from all walks of life started pouring into the main venue after 12 noon in a festive mood.
