President off to London for health check

DHAKA, Oct 21, 2017 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid left here for London today for health check and treatment of eyes.

“A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the President took off from Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport at 11 am,” President’s deputy press secretary M Abul Kalam Azad told BSS.

Abdul Hamid is scheduled to have his checkup at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, Dean of Diplomatic Corps Ambassador of Vatican to Bangladesh Archbishop George Kocherry, British High Commissioner in Dhaka Alison Blake, Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam, chiefs of three services, PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, PMO Senior Secretary Suraiya Begum, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque, Secretary of public safety division of the home ministry Mostafa Kamal Uddin and civil and military high officials concerned saw him off at the VVIP Lounge of the airport.

“The President is expected to return home on October 29,” the press
secretary added.

Earlier, the 74-year-old President Hamid underwent health checkup there on April last.

Abdul Hamid has been suffering from Glaucoma since long. He used to have his health check-up in London while he was the Speaker in the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament).
