Smart Rajshahi website, mobile apps open in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2021 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has opened Smart Rajshahi and mobile apps aimed at providing its civic services online for the welfare of the citizens.

From now on, the city dwellers can avail 24 civic services after registering in the website and apps.

City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton formally opened the https://smartrajshahi.gov.bd website through a virtual meeting yesterday afternoon as the chief guest.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak joined the meeting as special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Liton said the initiative for a digital Bangladesh has totally changed the scenario of providing government services to people.

With the help of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ the government has established ‘Digital Government System’ through which people nowadays are getting almost all government services sitting at their houses, he added.

The city mayor said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced the digital government system in Bangladesh with the entire new idea shunning all old concepts, that colonial mentality of hundreds of years.

He also noted that the Premier has taken the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ vision for ensuring the welfare of the countrymen.

The ICT affairs adviser of the government Sajeeb Wazed Joy envisaged the vision of ‘Digital Bangladesh’, but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself and her government have implemented it, he said.

In his remarks, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government’s e-document management has reduced financial costs over time. At the same time this e-document management has set an example of success in the world.

He said the government has provided 54 crore services through its e-governance service delivery centres setup across the country during the last four years which has ensured hassle free services at the door steps of people as well as save time and money.

Palak said Sheikh Russel Digital Laboratory has been set up in 8,000 educational institutions across the country and initiative has been taken to establish it in 5,000 more schools.

“We will set up digital laboratories in all educational institutions in Rajshahi,” he said.

Around 11.5 crore people are using the internet in the country at present as low cost internet is being reached to all, the State Minister added.
