DSA case filed against Nur in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 21, 2021 (BSS)- Nurul Haque Nur, former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) has been sued under Digital Security Act (DSA) in Rajshahi for provocative remarks and hurting the religious sentiments through a Facebook live show.

Nibaran Chandra Borman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Boalia Police Station, told BSS that Rajshahi City Unit Joint Secretary of Juba League Towrid Al Masud Rony filed the case against Nur with the police station today.

In the case, Masud Rony alleged that Nur had hurt religious values and sentiments of many religious leaders, government and activists of Bangladesh Awami League and tried to destroy communal harmony through offensive, fabricated and misleading information through social media.

On April 14, Nur went live on Facebook and his speech triggered spoiling of communal harmony and deterioration of social stability, he added.

Rony also said Nur has been charged under several sections of the Digital Security Act for making provocative remarks on Facebook.
