15,048 administered 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 21,48,42 2nd dose

DHAKA, April 18, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 15,048 people were administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines today while 21,48,42 received the second dose across the country during the same period.

Among the vaccine recipients of the first dose, 9,780 were male and 5,268 female while among the second dose receivers, 13,85,83 were male and 76,259 were female, according to the data of Management Information System of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As of April 18, the number of vaccine receivers of the first dose was 57,14,090. Of them, 35,43,435 are male and 21,70,655 female. Besides, a total of 13,66,609 people received the second dose of the vaccine. Of them, 91,93,42 are male and 44,72,67 female as the countrywide vaccination campaign was launched on February 7.

People aged 40 years and above now can get registered to receive COVID- 19 vaccines, the health ministry sources said.

The vaccination drive was conducted at 50 hospitals in Dhaka city and 1,005 hospitals outside the capital today, the DGHS said, adding that the immunization programme will begin at 8am and it will continue till 2.30 pm
every day.

But some hospitals will continue the vaccination programme throughout the day, the health official said.

The inoculation would be administered among people in government hospitals up to upazila-level while 71,19,001 people got registered till 5.30pm today.
