DHAKA, July 19, 2018 (BSS) – From now on, the farmers would be able to apply for agriculture and rural credits without physically visiting the banks or other relevant offices as the application and disbursement process of the loans came under the online system today.
The Access to Information (a2i) program, Bangladesh Bank (BB) and Agrani Bank Limited jointly launched a “Simplified Service for Agricultural and Rural Credit” project at the central bank headquarters in the city, said a press release.
BB’s Deputy Governor S M Moniruzzaman inaugurated this service as the chief guest at the function while Channel i Director Shykh Seraj, Agrani Bank Limited Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam and BB Executive Director Ashok Kumar Dey were present.
Joint Secretary and Project Director of a2i Program M Mustafizur Rahman chaired the function.
Under the new project, all scheduled bank officials, relevant officials at the district and upazila levels and union digital center entrepreneurs in Chattogram have already received training on how to operate this system.
Within this project, a web- and mobile-based application has been created through which the entire process starting from receiving loan application from farmers to final disbursement has been automated.
The system shows the user a list containing updated information on all steps of application, loan interest rates, and documents to be attached with the application.
