18,922 more get second dose of COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 18, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 18,922 more citizens were inoculated with second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines today raising the number of second dose recipients to 1,29,288 in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 18,922 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines today, include 12,192 male and 6,730 female, of all eight districts in the division.

The total of 1,29,288 second dose recipient citizens, including 87,753 male and 41,535 female of the division, previously got the first dose of the vaccines at least two months ago.

“Earlier, inoculation of the COVID-19 vaccines as the second dose began on April 8 last alongside smooth continuation of the first dose in the division,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS.

The district-wise break-up of second dose recipient 1,29,288 citizens stands at 24,655 in Rangpur, 14,239 in Panchagarh, 18,449 in Nilphamari, 8,813 in Lalmonirhat, 11,840 in Kurigram, 12,112 in Thakurgaon, 26,448 in Dinajpur and 12,732 in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, a total 1,870 registered citizens, including 1,321 male and 549 female, were inoculated with the first dose of the jabs today in the division.

“The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccines now rose to 5,87,224, including 3,52,394 male and 2,34,830 female, with inoculation of more 1,321 people today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The district-wise break-up of first dose recipient 5,87,224 citizens stands at 1,67,148 in Rangpur, 43,565 in Panchagarh, 75,081 in Nilphamari, 36,846 in Lalmonirhat, 45,600 in Kurigram, 48,406 in Thakurgaon, 1,09,003 in Dinajpur and 61,575 in Gaibandha.

After taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH), a number of citizens told BSS that they are feeling normal without any side effects.

They thanked the RpMCH authorities for smoothly conducting the first and second dose of the vaccination programme simultaneously in an orderly manner strictly abiding by the health directives.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said everyone should abide by the health directives even after taking the first and second doses of the vaccines to remain safe.
