Rain, thundershowers likely

DHAKA, April 16, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind in several parts of the country in next 24 hours ending at 9 am on Saturday.

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Jashore and Kushtia with hails at isolated places until early tomorrow,” said a met office press release issued here this morning.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the release added.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Besides, mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Madaripur, Rangamati, Feni and Moulvibazar and it may abate from some places.

The maximum temperature was recorded 37.6 degrees Celsius yesterday at Jashore in Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature 24.0 degrees Celsius at Sylhet in Sylhet division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 11 mm at Sylhet in Sylhet division.

The sun sets at 6.21 pm today and rises at 5.35 am tomorrow in the capital.
