DHAKA, July 19, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP chief Begum Zia is getting more facilities than what a first class prisoner deserves in jail.
“Some BNP leaders are doing bad politics centering the issue of Begum Zia’s illness,” he said, speaking at a press conference held at the Awami League president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi.
Hasan said BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed is always giving indecent speeches in press briefings and other programmes.
“I want to ask him how he can give indecent speeches if democracy doesn’t exist in the country,” he said.
He said BNP activists carried out attack in different offices of Awami League after assuming power in 2001. Even police attacked a meeting of the AL president and the then Opposition Leader Sheikh Hasina, he added.
The AL spokesperson said August 21 grenade attack was launched under the directive of Begum Zia’s son Tarique Rahman.
But, AL leaders didn’t carry out any attack on BNP’s rally or their offices in the last nine years, he added.
Regarding the quota reform issue, Hasan said BNP is always encouraging the movement. Their statements are politically motivated.
AL Religious Affairs Secretary Sheikh Abdullha and Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam, among others, were present in the press conference.
