Condolences pour in for Abdul Matin Khasru

DHAKA, April 14, 2021 (BSS) – Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for former law minister, Awami League Presidium Member and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Abdul Matin Khasru.

Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as different political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.

The cabinet members who condoled the death of Abdul Matin Khasru included- Foreign Affairs Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Health Minister Md Zahid Maleque, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed and Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan.

Besides, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan, State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharjee, State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali, State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan, State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel and ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmad Palak also also expressed deep shock and sorrow in separate condolence messages, at the death of Abdul Matin Khasru.

In separate condolence messages, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Awami League Advisory Council Member and Central 14-Party Alliance spokesperson Amir Hossain Amu, Jatiya Party Chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Golam Mohammad Quader and Jatiya Party General Secretary Jiauddin Ahmed Bablu also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Khasru.

Besides, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain also mourned the death of the noted lawyer in a condolence message.

Abdul Matin Khasru passed away at around 4:45pm while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka today.

He was put on life support yesterday at the hospital as his health condition deteriorated.

The five-time lawmaker from Cumilla-5, gave sample for Covid-19 test on March 15 and on March 16 he was diagnosed as coronavirus positive and admitted to CMH.
