Prof. Arefin mourns death of ex-minister Abdul Matin Khasru

DHAKA, April 14, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University former
Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound
shock and sorrow at the death of Awami League Presidium Member, former
Law Minister, newly elected President of the Supreme Court Bar
Association and valiant freedom fighter Abdul Matin Khasru.

In a message of condolence, he said the country has lost an eminent
lawyer and veteran politician at the death of Abdul Matin Khasru.

Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh
Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said Khasru played an important role to repeal
the black law Indemnity Act which was formulated to give immunity from
legal action to the persons involved in the assassination of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Khasru’s death has created a deep vacuum in the field of law as
well as politics, he added.

The former vice-chancellor of DU said Khasru extended cooperation
to the university by providing legal advices in different times.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep
sympathy to the bereaved family.

Prof Arefin also expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death
of 96 people who passed away with coronavirus infection in the country
in the last 24 hours.
