6,000 farmers get agro-incentive in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, April 14, 2021 (BSS)- A total of 6,000 small and marginal farmers in all the seven upazilas of the district have got the agro-incentive like seed, fertilizers from the government’s ‘Agriculture Incentive Distribution Programme” through their respective Upazila Agriculture Office.

In this regard, the respective Upazila Agriculture Offices disbursed the incentive among 2,550 farmers on April 13. The total beneficiary farmers are 900 in Jamalpur sadar upazila and 850 each of Sarishabari, Melandaha, Islampur, Madarganj, Dewanganj and Bakshiganj upazilas.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) distributed the agricultural incentives in the district for AUS paddy cultivation in this Kharip-1 season.

Under the programme, each of the farmers have received five kilograms of AUS seed, 20 kilograms of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and 10 kilograms of Muriate of potash (MOP) free of cost for cultivating one Bigha of land.

Deputy Director of BADC seed marketing Khagendra Chandra Roy said five varieties of AUS seeds–530-kg BRRI-82, 1450-kg BRRI- 48, 40-kg BRRI-85, 350-kg BINA-19 and 125-kg BINA-21– were handed over to the Agriculture Department for disbursing among the farmers.

Seed Marketing Office of BADC has also allotted 20,000 kilograms of AUS seeds of BRRI-48 variety for selling among the farmers through its registered dealers in the district, he said.

Training Officer of DAE Zakia Sultana said farmers already prepared the AUS seed bed on 65 hectares of land against the target of 200 hectares.
