Khaleda Zia tests positive for COVID-19: health ministry

DHAKA, April 11, 2021 (BSS) – BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has tested positive for COVID-19 as the country grapples with soaring coronavirus infections, the health ministry said here today.

“Her (Khaleda Zia) sample was collected yesterday and tested at ICDDR,B (International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh), which today confirmed her infection,” health ministry spokesman Maidul Islam told BSS.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir later at a media briefing acknowledged the test result saying she was now being treated at her house by a private doctor.

“Her health condition is stable . . . she has not showed any symptom yet,”  Alamgir said.
