Law enforcers monitor video-footages of Hefazat-e-Islam’s violence on social media

NARAYANGANJ, April 11, 2021 (BSS) – Additional Superintendent of Police of District Police Hafizur Rahman today said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the culprits by monitoring social media’s video footages of violence which was recently carried out by the Hefazat-e-Islam.

Siddhirganj and Rupganj police arrested two persons on Saturday night as a special team of district police investigated and analyzed the video footages and personal writings related to violence of Hefazat-e-Islam posted by various parties on Facebook, he said.

The arrestees are Imam Mufti Lokman Hossain Amini, 32, of Martujabad Jame Mosque in Rupganj and Raseduzzaman Munna, 22, an activist of Hefazat-e-Islam of Siddhirganj.

According to police sources, on the day of the strike called by Hefazat, Munna had done vandalism in signboard area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway and Mouchak area and also tried to snatch the cameras and mobile phones of the journalists.

Munna was seen wearing a check shirt with a rod in a live video and photos which were posted by various people on Facebook, police sources added.

On the other hand, Lokman Hossain was arrested for posting provocative statements on Facebook.
