DHAKA, Apr 8, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP needs ‘political isolation’ now as the party is infected with a more dangerous virus than coronavirus.

“The BNP is infected with a more deadly virus than coronavirus, whose symptoms are negativity, falsehood, conspiracy and arson terrorism. The BNP now needs political isolation,” he told a press conference at his official residence here.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said people think that the adverse impacts of the virus is rooted in BNP.

“BNP is doing the politics of shame over the coronavirus. They once say that lockdown has to be given and they say again if the lockdown is enforced, what will the people eat? The BNP’s double standard policy and ill-politics over COVID-19 are making people confused,” he said.

The AL general secretary said BNP called upon the students and labouerers to get united to oust the government but they did not pay heed to its call, and even the common people have no confidence in the party.

When the leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies are standing by the helpless and jobless people amid the COVID-19 pandemic and asking people to follow the health guidelines, BNP is trying to create anarchy in the country with the help of its communal allies, he said.

Mentioning that BNP is the father of arson terrorism in this country and one day their houses will be burnt into ashes in the fire too, Quader said as they have failed in waging a movement against the government, they are now riding on the shoulder of Hefazat.

“BNP’s ill-politics will be boomerang for it,” he added.

Later, the road transport and bridges minister virtually inaugurated the construction work of a new eight-lane bridge at Aminbazar on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway under the Dhaka Road Zone.

He said a project has already been undertaken to construct three bridges on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at Aminbazar, Salehpur and Nayarhat.

The second Aminbazar Bridge is also being constructed under this project, he said.

Considering the plight of the people, Quader said, the government has decided to introduce public transport in eight cities on conditions.

He said the government will take stern action if the transports run without fulfilling the conditions.

The minister said there are allegations that many transports are not following the government’s directives and charging extra fare from passengers.
