5 bus drivers fined in Ctg for violating government directives

CHATTOGRAM, April 7, 2021 (BSS)- A mobile court has fined five bus drivers in Chattogram for violating government directives.

They were fined Tk 8,500 this noon for carrying extra passengers on these buses, collecting high fares and transporting passengers outside from the city corporation.

Executive magistrate Umar Faruq of district administration conducted the mobile court in city’s GEC crossing, Muradpur and Shah Amanat Bridge areas.

Umar Faruq said that although public transport was supposed to be operating in the metropolitan area from Wednesday, it was seen that some drivers were transporting passengers to different districts and upazilas outside the city ignoring government instructions.

He also said that many buses in the city were seen to carry more passengers than seats and there were allegations of collecting extra fares.

As a result, some bus drivers have been fined and warned to comply with government restrictions in the future.

Besides, 10 passengers were fined for not wearing masks. He also said that the district administration will continue its campaign to ensure the use of masks and comply with health rules as per the government directives.
