14-party exchanges views with 9 political parties

DHAKA, July 18, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League-led 14-party combine today held a view-exchange-meeting with nine other political parties to form a new electoral alliance at AL president’s political office at Dhanmondi here.

According to meeting sources, leaders of nine parties expressed their solidarity with the sentiment of strengthening non-communal politics across the country to resist anti-state conspiracies.

Spokesman of 14-party alliance and AL presidium member Mohammed Nasim, chaired the meeting.

Of the nine political parties, Barrister Nazmul Huda of Trinamool BNP, Farhanaj Haque Chowdhury of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Party, representatives of Islamic Front, Sammilita Islamic Jote, National Democratic Alliance, Ganotantrik Andolon, Jago Dal, Ekamot Andolon and Ganotantrik Jote attended the meeting.

Besides, Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, secretary general of Jatiya Party (one faction) Sheikh Shahidul Islam, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD- (one faction) Sharif Nurul Ambia, another faction’s JSD’s general secretary Shirin Akhter, AL organizing secretary Khaled Mahmud Chowdhury and joint secretary of National Awami Party (NAP) Ismail Hossain, among others, were present there.

After the meeting, Mohammed Nasim, also the health and family welfare minister, told journalists, “Being directed by the Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina, we started holding talks with the political parties, which believe in the ideology of non-communal politics and want to form an electoral alliance.”
