Call to develop fisheries resources to strengthen country’s economy
KHULNA, July 18, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers here today said developing the
fisheries resources, which have immense potential, can significantly
strengthen the country’s economy and make the nation self-reliant.
The speakers made the remarks in the view exchange meeting between
journalists and Khulna fisheries officials held at the Circuit House
conference room in the city with Additional District Commissioner Golam
Moenuddin Hasan in the chair.
In observance of week-long National Fisheries Week-2018 from July 18 to
24, the National Fisheries Udjapon committee-2018 organised the meeting today
as a part of their week-long programme.
President and General Secretary of Khulna Press Club Faruk Ahmed and
Mallick Sudhangsu, Ex-Deputy Director of Quality Control and Inspection of
Fisheries of Khulna Prafulla Kumar Sarkar, addressed the meeting, among
others.
The main slogan of the week is ‘Soyang Sampurna Machhe Desh, Bangabandhur
Bangladesh.’
The weeklong fisheries week is held every year to create greater
awareness among the people about the country’s fish resources.
Abu Sayeed announced the week long fisheries programme from the meeting.
The programmes include release of fries in tomorrow morning at the pond
of city’s Shaheed Hadith Park followed by a colourful procession.
Later, a discussion will be held at the conference room of the deputy
commissioner.
