Passenger trains won’t operate during lockdown: Sujan

DHAKA, April 3, 2021 (BSS) – Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today said railway department will not run passenger trains if lockdown is imposed.

“We will not operate passenger trains during lockdown but operation of freight trains will continue as usual,” the minister told media this afternoon.

Trains are a public transport run by the government, he said, adding that so steps would be taken about the operation of trains as per the decision of the government, he added.

“Everything would be clear after the circular on lockdown,” Sujan said.

The government is set to declare a seven-day lockdown across the country from Monday to contain the spread of coronavirus, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader during a virtual media briefing from his official residence this morning.
