Maritime ports advised to lower signal

DHAKA, July 18, 2018 (BSS) – The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower signal as the well marked low over Jharkhand and adjoining area of India moved northwestward, a Met
bulletin said today.

“Now the low lies over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh of India… It is likely to merge with the Monsoon axis afterwards,” the bulletin added.

Squally weather is unlikely over the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh. But all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to proceed with caution till 6pm today.

Moreover, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with
moderately heavy falls at some places across the country in next 24-hour ending at 9am tomorrow.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The maximum temperature was recorded 35 degrees Celsius yesterday at Sylhet while today’s minimum temperature 25 degrees Celsius at Teknaf and Ragamati in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 64 mm at Patuakhali in Barishal division.

The sun sets at 6:48 pm today and rises at 5:22 am tomorrow in the capital.
