Police retain Premier Div. Chess League title

DHAKA, March 30, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Police retained title of the “Mujib Barsho” Premier Division Chess League that concluded on Monday last night at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.

Bangladesh Police earned maximum 20 points out of 10 matches.

In the 11th or last round matches, Bangladesh Police beat SAIF Sporting Club by 2.5-1.5 game points.

Shahin Chess Club became runners-up and SAIF Sporting Club finished 3rd in the league. Shahin Chess Club and SAIF Sporting Club both earned 14 match points with 24.5 game points each. Shahin Chess Club became Runners-up in the individual results of tie-breaking system with SAIF Sporting Club.

Uttara Central Chess Club secured the fourth spot with 12 points, Bangladesh Biman became fifth with 11 points, Titas Club became sixth with 10 points, Bangladesh Navy became seventh with 8 points, Sheikh Russell Chess Club became eighth with 7 points, Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society became ninth with 6 points, Leonine Chess Club became tenth with 5 points and Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club became eleventh with 3 points.

In the last round matches, Shahin Chess Club beat Leonine Chess Club by 2.5-1.5 game points, Uttara Central Chess Club drew with Bangladesh Biman by 2-2 game points, Sheikh Russell Chess Club beat Bangladesh Navy by 3-1 game points and Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society beat Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club by 2.5-1.5 game points.

The champion Bangladesh Police received Taka one lakh twenty five thousand, runners-up Shahin Chess Club got cash prize of Taka seventy five thousand and the third place finishers SAIF Sporting Club received cash prize of Taka fifty thousand.
