Agri-loans without security disbursed among marginal farmers

PANCHAGARH, Oct 11, 2017 (BSS) – Sixteen marginal and landless female farmers of Sadar upazila here today received Taka 20,000 each as easy-term agriculture loans without any security.

The loan recipient women are members of Thengonmari Mohila Farmers’ Group (TMFG) and Langolgaon Mohila Farmers’ Group (LMFG) under Dhakkamara union in Sadar upazila of the district, a press release said today.

Dhakkamara Branch of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) disbursed the loans at a ceremony held on TMFG office premises.

The loan recipient female farmers will pay back the received amounts within the next six months at only 4.50 per cent inertest rates after cultivating early variety of potato.

The beneficiary farmers are improving livelihoods with the assistance of the Improving Food Security Governance in South and Southeast Asia through Strengthening Participation of Organisations of Marginalised Farmers Regional Project being implemented by RDRS Bangladesh.

Panchagarh Zonal Manager of RAKUB Mosaddek Hossain disbursed the agri- loans as the chief guest with Chairman of Dhakkamara Union Samaj Kallyan Federation Dulen Chandra in the chair.

The chief guest, in his speech, called upon the easy-term agri-loan recipient farmers for making the best use of the money to improve their livelihoods.

Panchagarh Branch Manager of RAKUB Shamim Akhter Jahan, Programme Manager (Field Coordination) of RDRS Bangladesh Hasina Pervin and Project Manager of the Food Security Governance Project Mahfuz Alam were present, among others.
