Canada keen to provide assistance on aviation safety

DHAKA, July 17, 2018 (BSS) – Ottawa is keen to provide its assistance and expertise to Dhaka in the field of aviation safety as Bangladesh’s aviation industry is growing fast keeping parity with the economic uplift.

The Canadian transport ministry gave a formal proposal to showing interest to make Bangladesh is one of the partners of its Aviation Safety Programme of Canada.

Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit Pre’fontaine today handed over the proposal to Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal at his secretariat office here.

The high commissioner informed the minister that Canadian Aviation Safety Programme is recognized by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and numbers of countries around the globe are its partner.

During the meeting, they also discussed about progress of purchasing three Dash-8 aircraft for Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Canadian Bombadier Aircraft Manufacture Company under G2G agreement between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada.

High Officials of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry and Canadian High Commission in Dhaka were present.
