Ansar-VDP world’s largest disciplined force: Director General

RANGPUR, July 17, 2018 (BSS) – Director General (DG) of Ansar and VDP Major
General Sheikh Pasha Habib Uddin said Bangladesh’s Ansar and Village Defence
Police (VDP) is the biggest disciplined force in the world with 61 lakh
members.

“If members of this force are properly utilized, it is possible to
substantially improve the country’s law and order situation side by side with
achieving overall national progress through socio-economic development,” he
said while exchanging views with district and upazila level officials of the
force and managers of Ansar-VDP Development Bank under Rangpur Range at the
Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Nilphamari district town.

The Ansar-VDP chief said, “There is a specialised bank named as Ansar-
VDP Development Bank for the members of the force. The bank runs on profits
every year.”

“Currently, due to lack of proper data entry, the grassroots level
shareholders of the bank are remaining deprived of their shares from
profits,” he said, adding that proper database would be prepared soon to
distribute shares of profits to the Ansar-VDP members and also describing the
future transformational framework of the bank.

Rangpur Range Director of Ansar-VDP Kazi Shakhawat Hossain, Deputy
Commissioner of Nilphamari Mohammad Khaled Rahim, Director of Ansar-VDP
Development Bank Md Aminul Haque, Rangpur Regional Manager Md Abdul Rahim,
all District Commandants of Ansar-VDP, its upazila officers and trainers from
all eight districts under Rangpur range were present.

After the exchange of views, Major General Sheikh Pasha Habib Uddin
visited the Nilphamari district office of Ansar-VDP.

Later, the Ansar-VDP chief visited Mahiganj regional training centre of
the force in Rangpur, interacted with the VDP members undergoing district-
based basic trainings with weapons and gave them necessary directions.
