Shajahan urges youths to use merit, skills for nation’s development

DHAKA, July 17, 2018 (BSS) – Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan today urged the youths to turn Bangladesh into a developed nation by 2041 using their merit and skills, being imbued with the ideology of Liberation War.

“Merit without ideology cannot make welfare of a country or nation,” he said, speaking at a certificate distribution function at the Muktihoddha auditorium of Institute of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh (IEDB) here.

IDEB organized the function to award certificates to 20 of its engineers who have got scholarships in Australia for higher education. Melbourne Polytechnic Institute (MPI) Executive Director M Gregri Medigun was in the chair.

Technical and Madrasa Education Division Secretary Mohammad Alamgir, Bangladesh Technical Education Board Chairman Mostafizur Rahman, MPI Professor Diyane Bhalton, IDEB President AKMA Abdul Hamid and IDEB Secretary General and National Polytechnic Institute Chairman Md Shamsur Rahman, among others, addressed the function.

The minister called for developing Bangladesh upholding the spirit of Liberation War and the ideology and philosophy of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said, “We want such meritorious personalities who will work for the country and the nation. We don’t want meritorious people who would create militancy and terrorism.”
