BWJF accords reception to Journalist Farida Yasmin

DHAKA, Oct 6, 2017 (BSS) – Bangladesh Women Journalists’ Forum (BWJF) has accorded a reception to journalist Farida Yasmin on her election as the Jatiya Press Club’s (JPC) first woman general secretary.

“Farida Yasmin is the first woman to become the general secretary of Jatiya Press Club; this is something which she did not achieve in a single day. Our women have been proving their efficiency in every sector,” journalist and columnist Syed Abul Maksud told the reception as the main speaker on Thursday.

BWJF President Mamtaz Bilkis Banu chaired the function joined by senior journalists including former BFUJ president Shahjahan Miah, former managing director of BSS Mofakkharul Anam, Syed Mahmud, and former JPC general secretary Swapan Kumar Saha.

BFUJ’s incumbent secretary general Omar Faruque, Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) president Shakhawat Hossain Badsha and general secretary Mursalin Nomani, the Asian Age’s advisory editor Mostafa Kamal Majumdar, television channel News 24 chief news editor Shahnaz Munni, joint news editor Angur Nahar Monty, Prothom Alo reporter Rozina Islam, BWJF senior vice-president Rozi Ferdous and vice-president Mahmuda Chowdhury attended the function, among others.

BWJF general secretary Sharmeen Rinvy moderated the event held at the JPC auditorium when Farida Yasmin was honoured with a crest and citation.
