Three ILFSL officials remanded in graft case

DHAKA, March 16, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed three officials of
International Leasing and Financial Services Limited (ILFSL) on five-day
remand each in a case lodged for withdrawing loans of Taka 70.82 crore
through forgery and embezzling the money.

The three remanded accused are– ILFSL acting managing director Syed Abed
Hasan, its vice-president Nahida Runai, also one of the alleged girlfriends
of PK Halder, and senior manager Rafsan Riyad Chowdhury.

Acting Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed
the order as Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) produced the trio before the
court and pleaded to place them on five-day remand each.

A team of the anti-graft body led by its deputy director Md Gulshan Anwar
detained the accused from Motijheel area around 4pm today.

ACC filed the case in January, 2021, against them for allocating Taka 70.82
crore as loans against the application of one Anan Chemical Limited, who
filed forged documents to get the money.

The accused along with some others withdrew the money and later shifted to
different bank accounts and subsequently embezzled it.
