Committee formed to bring illegal dockyards under law
DHAKA, July 16, 2018 (BSS) – A committee has been formed today to bring
under law the illegal dockyards raised on the banks of Buriganga under Dhaka
river port.
The decision of forming the committee was taken at the meeting with
dockyard owners at the conference room of the Shipping Ministry today, with
minister Shahjahan Khan in the chair.
National River Protection Commission chairman Dr Mojibur Rahman Hawlader
was made the president of the committee, with representatives from Ministry
of Land, Dhaka District Administration, BIWTA and dockyard owners’
association.
The meeting also decided that work cannot be carried out by docking a
launch or ship beside another one in front of the dockyard for the sake of
keeping the shipping movement unhindered.

Mozammel Haque, dockyard owners’ association members Golam Kibria Tipu,
Sahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Md Iqbal, Md Sazzad Hossain, Shah Alam Bahadur, Md
Nasiruddin and Md Amanullah, were present at the meeting among others.
