DHAKA, July 16, 2018 (BSS) – Information Minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik
Dal (JASHOD) President Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, today said that the release of
convicted prisoners could not be used as a bargaining chip for participation
in polls.
“The two issues are not related and the rule of law would prevail, “he
said.
Inu was speaking as chief guest at a memorial meeting on the occasion of
the 8th death anniversary of former JASHOD general secretary Zafar Sajjad
Khichchu.
Paying glowing tributes to the deceased leader, the minister said “He was
a dedicated soul who did not compromise on principle.”
“He worked relentlessly for the trial of war criminals and to keep
militants and their patrons away from state power,” he said.
Inu also said Khichchu’s life was worth emulating and the new generation
could draw inspiration from his life.
The meeting was also addressed by other party leaders including general
secretary of the party, Shirin Akhter, MP.
