Women make important contributions to country’s progress: Murad

DHAKA, March 8, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Information Dr. Md. Murad Hassan today said women have made important contributions to the country’s tremendous progress.

“Bangladesh is going ahead at a higher pace on the highway of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Women are also stakeholder of the tremendous progress side by side with men,” he said.

Murad was addressing the closing ceremony of Joyeeta Film Festival arranged by Bangladesh International Film Movement under the auspices of Joyeeta Foundation at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Noting that film tells the tales of society and life, the state minister underscored the need for retrieving the glorious past of the native film industry.

It is necessary to arrange film festivals across the country for providing healthy entertainment, he added.

Bangabandhu Digital Museum founder Shawkat Hasan Miah chaired the function while Bangladesh International Film Movement President Dildar Hossain, Federation of Bangladesh Associations in North America (FOBANA) Chairperson Zakaria Chowdhury, National Film Award winning actress and film director Salma Begum Sujata, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana and SS Communication Chief Executive Officer Shafiullah Sumon spoke, among others.

Film directors Salma Begum Sujata and Nargis Akhter, actress Shabnur (Kazi Sharmin Nahid Nupur) were honored for their role in films while Jinat Hasan was also honored for humanitarian service.
