Russell inaugurates construction work of indoor stadium

COX’S BAZAR, March 3, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, today inaugurated the construction works of Cox’s Bazar Indoor Stadium.

He also inaugurated the development works of Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium in Cox’s Bazar, said a press release.

The indoor stadium will be constructed at a cost of Taka 13.58 crore under the supervision of the National Sports Council (NSC) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The modern stadium will have all kinds of indoor sports including badminton and basketball. The stadium has more than 500 spectator seats capacity and the stadium also has a gym facility.

Besides, development work of Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium in Cox’s Bazar under the overall supervision of the National Sports Council will cost Taka 7.32 crore. The works includes construction of a new gallery, boundary wall, interior drainage system, walkway and field development.

Speaking on the occasion, Russell said that sports will have to utilize to develop tourism in Cox’s Bazar as the government wants to make Cox’s Bazar a hub of sports tourism in the world.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner and District Sports Association’s president Mohammad Mamunur Rashid presided over the function.

Shaimum Sarwar Komol, MP, Youth and Sports Secretary Akhter Hossain and NSC Secretary Mohammad Masud Karim, among others, also spoke.
