Mithun finds quarantine in New Zealand more rewarding

DHAKA, March 3, 2021 (BSS)- Middle order batsman Mohammad Mithun found 14-
day mandatory quarantine in New Zealand more rewarding, because after it is
over, they will get the chance to move freely, which they didn’t get in
Bangladesh during any domestic tournament or International series.

“We have been in Covid-19 situation for the last one year. Here the
situation is different. We can move freely after the mandatory quarantine but
in Bangladesh we can’t stay out of the hotel during the series and
tournament. So quarantine here is more rewarding than Bangladesh,” Mithun
said in a recorded video message sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)
today.

“Here the weather is good and if there is same weather, there will be no
problem. What is positive matter is that we will move freely after 14-day
quarantine and hopefully everyone will enjoy it.”

Bangladesh however has arrived in New Zealand one month before the series
starts and it is another positive thing for Mithun who said the long stay
before the game would help them to cope with the condition.

“What will happen later, I don’t know but at the moment I saw it as an
opportunity. We have come here long before the game starts. We will get
enough opportunity to practice and adjust with the condition,” he remarked.

Bangladesh did a gym session today for the first time after arriving in New
Zealand. From tomorrow, they will start practicing in small groups and after
the 14-day quarantine, they will have a five-day long practice camp in
Queenstown.

“There were so many limitations initially. However it was relaxed now. We
have had a gym session and we’ll start practicing in small group from
tomorrow,” he said.

“We are excited after starting our gym session. Hopefully once we get into
the practice session, we’ll adjust with the condition.”

Mithun knows dealing with the new ball successfully will be key to their
success in New Zealand tour.

“It is always challenging to play in New Zealand because here the condition
is completely different. We didn’t get chance to play here very often. We all
know, it will be challenging to face the new ball here. If we can
successfully deal with the new ball, we hope we’ll have a better result here
this time,” he informed.
