RAJSHAHI, March 2, 2021 (BSS) – A six-day long ‘Fifth Akshay Kumar Maitreya
Drama Festival- 2021’ began at Shilpakala Academy here last evening.
Rajshahi Theater is hosting the festival in association with Rajshahi City
Corporation and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to mark the birthday of
Dramatist and Archeologist Akshoy Kumar Moitreya.
Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton attended the inaugural ceremony as
the chief guest with President of Rajshahi Theater Nitay Kumar Sarker in the
chair.
Drama personality Prof Moloy Kumar Bhowmik, General Secretary of Sammilita
Sangskritik Jote Dilip Kumar Ghosh and President of Rajshahi Film Society
Ahsan Kabir also spoke.
A total of six famous dramas of Bangladesh and India will be staged in the
festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the contribution of the cultural
persons is very significant to nation-building activities.
He told the audience that the present government has been working
relentlessly to develop country’s cultural arena.
The opening ceremony was followed by a cultural function performed by
famous artistes.
