DHAKA, Oct 3, 2017 (BSS) – Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is now known as ‘Mother of Humanity’ for sheltering in Bangladesh territory the persecuted Rohingyas on the humanitarian grounds.
“Sheikh Hasina has been hailed as ‘Mother of Humanity’ for sheltering the Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh territory being the worst victims of the atrocities in the military crackdown in Myanmar’s Rakhine state,” he told a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at Segunbagicha here.
Shajahan, also convener of the ‘International War Crimes Mass Trial Movement’ and the ‘Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi-Muktijoddha Samanway Parishad’, said these two organizations would stand beside the Rohingya people with necessary relief materials.
He urged all irrespective of party affiliation, opinion and caste to extend the hands of cooperation to the Rohingyas.
The shipping minister congratulated the prime minister for her time-befitting speeches in the 72th United Nations General Assembly where she urged the international community to declare the March 25 as “International Genocide Day” and placed a five-point proposal to settle the Rohingya issue.
Shirin Akhter, MP, freedom fighters – Ismat Kadir Gama, Osman Ali and Malek Miah, Rokeya Prachi and Kamrul Alam Sabuj, among others, were present.
