Met office predicts light to moderate rain

DHAKA, July 15, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are
likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24 hours ending
at 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places in Chattogram
division,” said a Met bulletin issued this morning.

A few places in Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and
Dhaka divisions may see light to moderate rain and moderately heavy to heavy
falls in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am today, the bulletin said.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

“Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay… The
low pressure over North-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining area intensified
into a well marked low over the same area,” the bulletin said, adding that
the trough of monsoon axis runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya
Pradesh, Odisha, the centre of well marked low and thence northeastwards to
Assam across Gangetic West Bengal and southern part of Bangladesh.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Rajshahi while today’s minimum temperature 24.7 degrees Celsius at Rangamati
in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 59
mm at Nikli in Dhaka division.

The sun sets at 6:49 pm today and rises at 5:20 am tomorrow in the capital.
