Over 3-lakh children get Vitamin A plus capsule in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, July 15, 2018 (BSS)-Vitamin A Plus campaign aimed at reducing
child mortality and building a healthier generation was held in all the seven
upazilas of the district on Saturday.

Health department sources said 3, 36, 847 children of the district were
fed blue and red color vitamin A Plus capsules as part of the programme.

Of them, some 34,363 babies aged 6-11 months were fed blue color Vitamin A
Plus capsules while 3,02,484 babies aged 12-59 months were administered red
color Vitamin A Plus capsules, the sources said.

As many as 4242 health and family planning personnel including 3611
volunteers and 255 supervisors were engaged at 2,121 centers throughout the
district to carry out the campaign successful.

Special initiatives were taken to bring all the children of char and
remote areas under this programme in cooperation with some NGOs including
Friendship.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal formally inaugurated the
campaign on the premises of Gaibandha Pourasabha office here.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdus Shakur and Sadar upazila health and family
planning officer Dr. ABM Abu Hanif were present. Gaibandha Pourasabha Mayor
Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon presided over the function.
