2,14,389 get COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 22, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 2,14,389 citizens have so far
been immunised with the COVID-19 vaccines under excellent management at
different government hospitals in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

“A total of 20,318 people, including 12,418 males and 7,900 females, were
inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today raising the total number of
vaccine recipients to 1,47,208,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad
Ali told BSS here today.

The total 2,14,389 citizens who have been immunised so far with COVID-19
vaccines in the division include 1,41,148 males and 73,241 females.

“All vaccine recipients are leading normal life without notable side
effects though 63 of them experienced insignificant temporary adverse events
for a few minutes following immunisation since February 7 last across the
division,” Dr. Ali said.

The district-wise break-up of total 2,14,389 vaccine recipients now stands
at 39,899 in Rangpur, 20,398 in Panchagarh, 29,420 in Nilphamari, 15,013 in
Lalmonirhat, 19,741 in Kurigram, 23,618 in Thakurgaon, 46,132 in Dinajpur and
20,168 in Gaibandha.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said people are showing
huge interest in taking the vaccines in a festive atmosphere.

“Even after taking the vaccines, people should abide by the health
directives despite smooth progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign amid
a declining infection rate in Rangpur division,” Dr. Lyzu said.
