Int’l Mother Language Day observed at JU

SAVAR, Feb 21, 2021 (BSS) – The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today observed the Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner on the campus.

Marking the day, teachers, officers and employees of the university paid glowing tributes to the martyrs, valiant sons of the soil who made supreme sacrifices to establish the rights of the mother tongue in 1952.

On behalf of JU its Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Farzana Islam, JU teachers placed wreaths at the altar of the university’s Central Shaheed Minar at one minute past last night.

Later,Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA), Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association (JUJA), Jahangirnagar University Press Club, Bangladesh Chhatra League JU unit, JU Women’s Club, Employees Association, Employees Union, hall , different socio-cultural organisations also placed wreaths separately at the altar of the Shaheed Minar.

Besides, teachers and officials of the university brought out a morning procession (Prabhat Feri) around 6.30 am that started from Officers Club to the Central Shaheed Minar of the university.

Teachers, students and officials of Jahangirnagar University School and College along with various cultural organizations participated in the rally.

Meanwhile,the university authorities also organized different programmes on the campus to mark the day.

To mark the day ,Teacher-Student Center (TSC) of JU organised a virtual cultural programme.

Marking the day,national flag is hoisted at half-mast atop administrative buildings and halls of the university to show respect to the language martyrs.
