Russian Deputy PM calls on PM

PABNA, July 14, 2018 (BSS)- Visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Yury Ivanovich Borisov today made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant office here today.

The two leaders arrived here today to inaugurate the Rooppur Nuclear First Concrete Pouring of the 2nd Unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim said the prime minister thanked Russian government for the continued support to construct the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

They expressed happiness over existing excellent cordial relations between the two countries, the press secretary said.

The prime minister thanked the Russian Federation for excellent arrangement of the wonderful World Cup Football which is providing plenty of delight and pleasure to all Bangladeshis.

Recalling Russian support and contribution to Bangladesh in the War of Liberation in 1971 the prime minister said Russia has immense contribution to post-war reconstruction and Chittagong Port de-mining.

Since assuming office in January 2009, the prime minister said the present government decided to deepen and widen Dhaka’s engagement with Moscow in a mutually beneficial manner.

Sheikh Haisna said her government has plan to construct more nuclear power plant as the sources of renewable energy as electricity is the most prerequisite for Bangladesh for development.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister termed the cooperation between the Bangladesh and his country based on equal footing saying his country would continue to cooperate with Bangladesh in various fields for mutual benefits of the both countries.

Minister for Science and Technology Architect Yafez Osman, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Md. Shariyar Alam, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md. Nojibur Rahman, Chief of Army General Aziz Ahmed and secretary of the ministry of science and technology Anwar Hossain and Bangladesh Ambassador to Russia SM Saiful Haq were present.
