COVID-19 vaccination campaign begins in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Feb 7, 2021 (BSS)- The first phase of the much-awaited coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination campaign began today in the port city and 14 upazilas of Chattogram district.
Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel inaugurated the vaccination programme this morning through taking the first shot of the vaccine.
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Chief Health Officer Dr Selim Akhtar Chowdhury confirmed that several officials, health workers, members of law enforcement agencies and politicians took the vaccine on the first day, after the Deputy Minister for Education received the inoculation at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital.
“Health workers and those over the age of 55, who have registered at CMCH Hospital have been vaccinated today. The vaccines are being administered in 10 booths. Besides, vaccination is being carried out at small scale at the General Hospital,” he added.
After taking the first dose of the vaccine, Deputy Minister for Education Nawfel told journalists that he is fine and does not feel any abnormality
“So there is nothing to be afraid of. I personally don’t feel any problem. Senior health officials have also been vaccinated. They are fine too,” he added.
The vaccination programme is being carried out at the health complexes of 14 upazilas of Chattogram. Two teams are engaged in vaccination in each upazila health complexes, civil surgeon office sources said.
