Journalist Ahmed Akhter passes away

DHAKA, Feb 5, 2021 (BSS) – Journalist Ahmed Akhter, a permanent
member of Jatiya Press Club, died of kidney and neurological
complications while undergoing treatment at a private hospital at
Rampura in the city this afternoon.

He was 56.

He is survived by a son, a daughter, relatives and a host of
well-wishers and admirers, said a press release.

Akhter, son of renowned poet Farrukh Ahmad, served as a sub-editor
of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Bangla daily Naya Diganta.

His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at 11am tomorrow at Jatiya Press
Club and later he will be laid to rest at the Azimpur graveyard.

In a condolence message, Jatiya Press Club President Farida Yasmin
and General Secretary Elias Khan expressed deep shock and sorrow at
the death of Ahmed Akhter.

They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed
deep sympathy to bereaved family.
