BFUJ for imposing ban on Al Jazeera transmission in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Feb 5, 2021 (BSS) – Protesting and condemning the yellow
journalism of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television channel, leaders
of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) today demanded for
imposing a ban on the transmission of the television channel in
Bangladesh.

“The particular television channel is always playing role against
Bangladesh…as the television channel is protecting the interest of a
particular anti-state quarter and engaged in tarnishing the image of
the country at the international level,” BFUJ president Molla Jalal
and secretary general Abdul Majid said this in a joint statement here
today.

They called upon all journalists of the forum to raise their voices
against the conspiracy against the country. The television channel has
allegedly tried to make the war criminals’ trial process controversial
at the international arena, the BFUJ leaders said.

Even the channel has created confusion over the number of
independence war martyrs claiming the number only 3 to 5 lakhs.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan and
Egypt have already banned the transmission of the television channel
for it alleged involvement in toppling the government and inciting
violence and extremism in these countries, said the BFUJ leaders.
