Five more reported coronavirus positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 3, 2021 (BSS) – Only five more people were tested for
coronavirus positive in Rangpur division today.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported after
diagnosing 159 samples at the daily infection rate of 3.14 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.60 percent on
Tuesday, 3.95 percent on Monday, 1.46 percent on Sunday, 5.41 percent
on Saturday, 5.85 percent on Friday and 5.85 percent on Thursday last
in the division.

Among the five new patients diagnosed, two were reported positive
after diagnosing 65 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur
Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The two new infected patients include one each from Panchagarh and
Kurigram districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and
Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

Meanwhile, three new patients were reported after diagnosing 94
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“All of the three new patients are hailing from Dinajpur district
alone,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS
after completing the testing process at 8:40 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to
15,754 as five new positive cases were reported from across the
division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,754 patients stands at
4,014 in Rangpur, 788 in Panchagarh, 1,325 in Nilphamari, 963 in
Lalmonirhat, 1,012 in Kurigram, 1,506 in Thakurgaon, 4,688 in Dinajpur
and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
